The Winner Is.......

This has got to be one the biggest decisions I've had to make... seriously! So who gets to stick a huge needle up my nose and pull out this marshmallow???

So, to catch you up.... growth hormone excreting tumors are always white. Always. I guess that's super fortunate since it makes them easier to see, and if the tumor hasn't been there for too long, it'll still be softer and easier to pull out ("de-bulk"). We got to watch quite a few tumor surgeries at the conference!

For those that are not squeemish - you can watch how the surgery is performed

I drove to the Mayo Clinic, I've met the University of Michigan team, I showed my pictures to Dr Badass (cuz his name is way long to type or say!) for an opinion, I've talked to Dr Steve Shogan (Sarah's future father-in-law), I asked the Flint physiologist, AND I've spoken to a lot of the Acro Tribe, one of which drove from Idaho to University of Michigan to have Dr Sullivan do his surgery.
From what I'm gathering, there is a small number of clinical teams that specialize in Acromegaly... UCLA, UCSF, University of Virginia, U Pitt, Boston, Mayo Clinic, a few I can't remember, and ..... University of Michigan! Pretty cool!

So... the winner is, you guessed it, University of Michigan!

So I'll stick to following my gut, and what brought me to Michigan... and go with someone with a great reputation... not to mention, it's better for my dogs!

Surgery scheduled for May 11th!
