Spoke Too Soon

I was going to title this post NO CSF LEAK (yet) but unfortunately, now that would be a lie......

With the exception of a 3.5, hour wicked BAD morning headache which started 30 minutes before my Nurse Practitioner, Danielle, clamped off my Lumbar Drain, today was pretty uneventful... no CSF leak (unless you count my phantom leak in my left nostril!!!), only the morning headache, no mood swings, was in a great mood all day!

Until now....

Earlier this evening, just as my mom was leaving at 6:30 to go back to the hotel, I noticed that my back was damp. I called my nurse over and she couldn't see the source, so she paged the Nurse Practitioner to come look and change out the bandages. As Aaron changing the bandages, he saw the leak..... from my lumbar drain, and confirmed a CSF leak.

Aaron sent over my Neuro Team over, who, by the time they came to see me, had heard back from Dr Sullivan. He wanted them to pull the Lumbar Drain out, mainly to avoid infection. So I'm no longer tethered, again, the nurse checked my stitches and hour after the drain was pulled, no leaks present.... so far so good.

Hopefully I won't melt away before the morning!!! I'll know more about my future in the morning.....

For now, feeling hopeful and filled with positive thoughts that I still get to go home soon to my kids!!!
